Position: Software Engineer
‘Every project begins with a realistic assessment of what’s doable’
The automotive industry has always fascinated me. I got my master’s degree at RWTH Aachen University in Computational Engineering Science, a relatively new course of study that teaches the principles of software development and programming. Early on, I began taking subjects with relevance to the automobile industry.
I became aware of NSK through the bonding job fair at the university. What attracted me especially were NSK’s innovative product developments in various automotive components as well as the international orientation of the company.
I had the opportunity to work for two and a half years as an NSK trainee in Japan, in software development and in the area of electrical engineering, which gave me valuable experience. It was a great start to my professional career.
Today I work in technical project management for electrical engineering development. Put briefly, I draw up technical product demands, milestones and time schedules. I evaluate these and coordinate them within the team and with the customer. My tasks also include the organisation and support of test sessions and workshops. In the medium term, I’d like to assume responsibility for a small team.
What I enjoy about my work is having an influence on decisions in technical matters and product strategy. I think it’s exciting to work in a spirited international team where the team members deal with each other in a trustful way. In my area, I have to constantly keep up with rapid technological developments. It’s a good thing that NSK places importance on continuous training!
