Held over three days in October 2017, NSK hosted its inaugural European industrial distributor conference in Madrid. Information was shared with around 80 delegates from all across Europe concerning strategy, new products, supply chains and anti-counterfeiting measures. Seen as an important part of the NSK "family’, the distributors provided extremely positive feedback on the event, which as part of its social programme included dinner at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home of 12 times European champions, Real Madrid football club.

Among the many themes of the convention, NSK wanted to share information on both its future global business strategy and the company’s aftermarket strategy across Europe. Top NSK management representatives were present to liaise with distributors and reassure them of their importance to the company’s success moving forwards.

“We have for many years held discussions with distributors at a local level, but felt it was time to organise a Europe-wide event so we could all be around the same table at the same time, discussing key strategy information,” explains NSK’s Jean-Yves Chapelet, Industrial Aftermarket Director, European Industrial Business Unit. “This would not only further improve our working relationships, but strengthen the network between distributors. This in turn has key benefits for end users.”

Distributors were also given advance insight into upcoming NSK innovations and provided with facts about supply chain initiatives such as the recent construction of a new European Distribution Centre (EDC) in Tilburg, Netherlands. In addition, a presentation was delivered on NSK anti-counterfeiting measures; reassuring distributors about the strategies in place to ensure 100% product authenticity.

Conference delegates were in attendance from distributors (small and large) based in 20 countries across Europe. The event also saw NSK name the first four distributors to successfully become Certified AIP (Added Value Programme) Partners: Margo (Poland), Primagra (Romania), REA Hellas (Greece) and UAB Dagmita (Lithuania). All Certified AIP Partners are proven as competent at investigating and solving technical issues, and offer specific applications expertise, sector know-how and MRO project leadership. Many other distributors have started the programme and are expected to complete in early 2018.

The convention’s social programme included a tour of the city and dinner at Real Madrid’s iconic Bernabéu stadium, where further networking took place. Such was the success of the event that NSK is planning to make it part of the company’s annual business calendar.
