New cutting plant will shorten lead times for #NSK linear guides in Europe   European users of NSK’s class-leading linear guides can now take advantage of our new state-of-the-art cutting facility in the Netherlands. Based at our European Distribution Centre in Tilburg, the €1.6 million plant will enhance service levels for customers in key European markets that include Germany, France, Italy and elsewhere.   Although we already have a linear guide cutting facility at our site in Newark, UK (which will continue to serve customers in the UK and Ireland), the addition of Tilburg will help to optimise our service levels for these popular products across mainland Europe. The new ISO9001-accredited plant triples our capacity, ultimately allowing us to output over 1000 pieces a week and meet delivery times of just seven days anywhere in Europe. A tech day contains some theory and a lot of practice on the work floor, where the participants get a hands-on experience about how to handle and work with bearings, to get the maximum performance and lifetime out of them. World first: ultrasonic testing provides highly accurate bearing life predictions Following years of R&D, #NSK is revising the basic dynamic load rating of many bearings by up to double the equivalent rolling contact fatigue life (with no change in design or materials). We are the first company in 60 years to make a significant breakthrough in #bearing life calculation techniques, helping end users to improve productivity and boost environmental protection.   Partnering with Kyushu University, our expert engineers developed a quantitative evaluation method that could determine which factors influenced the process of crack propagation in a material, and to what extent. By combining the new method with an ultrasonic inspection technique that scans the non-metallic inclusions in a large volume of steel, we are able to predict bearing life with far higher accuracy.
